Office of Student Wellness

WAVE (Wellness Ambassadors to Voice & Empower) is a student-driven program at 13 participating middle & high schools. The program began in 2000, and has been named SQUADS and SWAT in the past, but in 2018, the program was renamed WAVE.

Over the years, the program has evolved beyond its original focus of smoking cessation to work on prevention of a variety of issues.

These issues include substance use (along with vaping), suicide, bullying, and gun violence.

Each WAVE group determines what they would like to focus on, dependant on the passions of the members.

We are committed to having youth at the table with us as often as possible, and follow their lead every step of the way.
